HOW I WORK
Meet: The
client and I have a short initial meeting, over the phone or email, to
assess the client's needs and project scope.
Proposal/Project Start:
The information I
gather from the initial meeting helps me grasp the project so I can
provide an accurate proposal. After the client approves the proposal,
and I receive a signed copy of the proposal and a deposit of 1/3 of the
negotiated fee,
I'm ready to jump in.
Data Collection/Research:
I send over a discovery
questionnaire for the client to fill out, and ask the client to
send over any prior written marketing material that may pertain to the
current project. If I am working jointly with a design firm,
I will
also ask to look at what they have prepared so far so I can tailor my
copy
to suit the design. I consider factors such as company
history, mission, marketing plan, target
market, and competition, to figure out what message my client is trying
to convey to his or her customers.
Development: I
research and review all the
information the client has sent over, and distill it down to a core
message. I immerse myself in the project, and generate copy
for the
client's review. I generally send a brief check-in email
every week or
two to the client and/or collaborating design firm letting them know my
progress.
Refinement: After
the client reviews the
first round of copy, I refine the copy based on the client's feedback.
I return with new copy for further review. Through this dialogue with
the client, I polish the copy. Two rounds of revisions are
included in
every project. Further revisions will be negotiated on a
case-by-case
basis.
Client Approval: The
final copy is approved and ready
for posting to the client's website. I either coordinate directly with
the client, or send the copy to the web designer.
